CONFIRMATION

So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17

Pledging Your Faith

Even youths will faint and be weary and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.  – Isaiah 40:30-31

Confirmation at Saint Andrew is a vibrant ministry that focuses on growth in four areas of Christian life: identity, community, instruction, and spiritual formation and renewal.

The confirmation journey typically begins in the fall of the 7th grade year and concludes with confirmation worship on Reformation day in the fall of the 9th grade year.  Youth coming from another church or new to Saint Andrew are welcome to enter the program at their grade level.  Confirmation is also offered through one on one study with one of the pastors.

Offered on Wednesdays from 6:15-7:30 pm, a typical evening consists of large group teaching and small group discussion, bible study, and interactive learning.  Caring adults from within the congregation (called mentors) lead the small groups and help to foster a sense of learning through community.  A confirmation covenant outlines the expectations of both youth and parents participating in confirmation classes.  Some of those expectations include participation in confirmation camp, worship notes, service projects, and additional learning opportunities that may take place outside of the church.
