BAPTISMS

Welcome to the Family of Faith. You Belong!

IN BAPTISM THE MESSAGE IS CLEAR

One of two sacraments for Lutherans, Baptism is the entry rite into Christian faith. It is an act instituted by God, performed using water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, whereby the baptized is united with Christ.

MAKING ARRANGEMENTS FOR BAPTISM

Following a child’s birth, contact the church office to schedule a date during worship for your child’s baptism. You will be sent a “Baptismal Information” card to fill out and return to the church office.

MORE ABOUT BAPTISM

The stories from scripture teach us that God’s son Jesus loves all people — and invites us all to follow him and his way of life. Baptism adopts us as God’s children and unites us with Jesus, his life, death and resurrection. Baptism is a gift, our entrance into the community of faith — the Body of Christ. Why do we baptize? Jesus gave a commission to do so just before he ascended, “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” We offer this precious gift because Jesus instructs us to to do so and because it unites us in a common bond now and in the life to come.
